Venu (M.G. Ramachandran) a Police Officer comes to the forest of Singarathoppu in search of some dacoits. He visits his friend Raghu and his sister Mala. Raghu’s internal desire is to get Mala married to Venu however bother Venu and Mala have their own choice. Venu loves Ponni (Savithri) and Mala loves Viswam (M.N. Nambiar) who actually is the dacoit in search of whom Venu comes to the forest. One day Raghu gets killed accidentally by Viswam instead of Venu, before dying Raghu entrusts Mala’s responsibility to Venu. The rest of the film is about the sacrifices Venu makes to fulfill his promise to Raghu and how Viswam takes advantage of Venu’s goodness.
